Il Pomo d’Oro, directed by Dmitry Sinkovsky, and American mezzo soprano Joyce DiDonato will travel to Asia for the fifth tour of the album Drama Queens. The recording, released in 2012 on EMI / Virgin Classics is a selection of ‘royal arias’ from the world of Baroque opera, celebrating the fiery, deep emotions of the queens, princesses and sorceresses that DiDonato embodies on stage.
DiDonato will travel to the Middle East and Asia for performances in the Royal Opera House, Muscat; The Esplanade, Singapore; Hong Kong Arts Festival, Hong Kong; Shanghai Grand Theatre, Shanghai; and NCPA, Beijing. She will perform many of the baroque arias featured on the recording, including rarely-heard arias by Giacomelli, Cesti, Orlandini and Porta. Il Pomo d’Oro will be directed by Dmitry Sinkovsky on violin, who will perform Vivaldi’s concerto ‘per Pisendel’.
