Within the complex of a former Benedictine monastery in Monte San Savino (near Arezzo, Tuscany) which was already turned into a hotel some years ago and will now be the residence of the orchestra il Pomo d’Oro, we discovered an abandoned building with the perfect dimensions for a recording studio. It probably was used as a horse stable during the centuries, although its layout suggests that in a very early state it might also have been a small church. Before it was completely abandoned, the city of Monte San Savino had used it as a music school.
We want to bring music back into this building!
With the help of architectural and acoustic experts, it will be transformed into a state-of-the-art rehearsal and recording room, which can also serve as a small but very atmospheric concert venue. It will host masterclasses, workshops and educational programs for children as well.
We have gathered a team of experts of the highest competence for the realization of the project: Architecture Studio Verdelli, Axel Vervoordt, and Müller BBM.
The procedure of receiving the necessary permissions was unfortunately delayed by the Covid 19 pandemic, but is now on a good way. First restoration works could be started already in September 2020.
