Natalia Timofeeva

Viola da gamba & Cello

Natalia Timofeeva is a very versatile performer of stringed instruments, ranging from baroque cello and viola da gamba to modern cello. In the broad repertoire that she performs on these different instruments, she demonstrates a passionate personality, an application of different styles, and great virtuosity. Born in Moscow (Russia), Natalia received her first cello lessons at the age of four. During the school period Natalia became the laureate of several competitions and festivals, the scholarship holder of the Russian Performance Art Fund and New Name International Charity Foundation. Natalia has graduated with honors from Moscow State P.I.Tchaikovsky Conservatory where she studied modern cello (Alexander Buzlov) and baroque cello (Pavel Serbin). She continued her studies at postgraduate courses in Moscow Conservatory with prof. Tigran Alikhanov in chamber music class and in the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris in the class of prof. Christophe Coin where she received her master degree of viola da gamba in 2016. She also acquired important artistic incentives during masterclasses with Guido Balestracci, Philippe Pierlot, Jordi Savall, Mark Hantai, Andrew Lawrence King, Jonathan Dunford, Rolf Lislevand, Bruno Cocset, Natalia Gutman and others. Natalia performs as a soloist, continuo-player and in chamber music ensembles and consorts regularly. Her repertoire covers music of five centuries – from early baroque to modern composers. In her activity she collaborates with orchestras, such as Helsinki Baroque Orchestra, La Chapelle Harmonique, Il Pomo d’Oro, The Pocket Symphony, Il Convito and others. In addition to concerts in Spain, France, Austria, Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Italy, USA, United Kingdom and Russia, Natalia has made several recordings. Her performances in chamber music programs were broadcasted by France Musique, France Television and Culturebox. "
