Stefano Marcocchi

Italian violist Stefano Marcocchi was a member of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra where he performed regularly under the baton of Claudio Abbado, whom also invited him to join the celebrated Lucerne Festival Orchestra.
Stefano is a founding member of AleaEnsemble, a period-instrument string quartet specializing in the Classical and Early Romantic repertoire which has been awarded with the Diapason d'Or.
From 2014 till 2017 he was co-principal violist of Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, Canada's internationally acclaimed period instruments ensemble, and he has been principal violist of Europa Galante since 2001, playing extensively in Europe, America, Asia, and Australia, and taking part in 20 award winning recordings including Telemann's Viola Concerto as soloist.
Stefano appears regularly as principal violist with many of the leading baroque orchestras in Italy and Europe, including Les Talens Lyriques, Accademia Bizantina, and Ensemble Zefiro.
He has been Guest Lecturer Professor of baroque viola at the University of Toronto, and is currently teacher of baroque viola at the Conservatorio “E. F. Dall'Abaco” of Verona."
