‘Serse’ receives the Award of the Italian Association of Music Critics, the “Abbiati del disco”

The recording of Serse has been honored in the first edition of the Premio della Critica Discografica Franco Abbiati, given by the Italian Association of Music Critics,  as opera of the year. Handel’s Serse is the second collaboration of Il pomo d’oro and Deutsche Grammophon, and it was recorded in Lonigo in early 2018 under the direction of our chief conductor Maxim Emelyanychev. The cast features Franco Fagioli, Francesca Aspromonte, Inga Kalna, Vivica Genaux, Marianna Pizzolato, Biagio Pizzuti, and Andreas Wolf.

The “Abbiati awards” are a new initiative of the Italian Association of Music Critics, which has expanded its historical activity of research of recorded music, to celebrate recent recordings that have a close relationship with the cultural industry and the history of Italian and international music. The prize is divided into main categories: opera repertoire, symphonic and choral repertoire, ensemble music, solo repertoire, new music, special reports.
